Snacks – NUTRITION TIP OF THE WEEK

snacksAre you ready to try some new food products to jazz up your healthy snack options?

Most of these products can be found on Amazon and hopefully will soon make it to our local grocery stores.
1. Hippeas Organic Chickpeas Puffs- they come in four flavors, 130 cal. per serving, and are a good fiber and protein rich snack.
2.Jica Chips- baked jicama (a root vegetable) that contains 5 g of fiber, 1.5 g of fat, 100 cal., and 50% less carbs and calories than potato chips.
3. Sacha Inchi-Incan peanuts. Comes in a few spiced flavors and contains 8.5 g of protein and is a good source of iron and fiber. It is also the highest plant based source of omega-3’s.
4.Rhythm Broccoli Bites- It’s dehydrated with seeds, nuts, and spices. Contains 7 g of protein and 4 g of fiber per serving.
5. Sejoyia Brussel Bytes- Dried and mixed mith spices, veggies, kale, and cashews. The cheesy herb flavor has 80 cal., 3 g of fiber, abd 4 g of protein.
6. Rule Breaker Bean- Based Brownies- a 60 g size contains 170 cal. and a good source of fiber and protein. It’s also vegan and gluten free.
7.Baked Beanitos- actually found in Kroger- White bean Mac n’ Cheese Crunch. It’s gluten free, 3 g of protein, 2 g of fiber, and 140 cal. per serving.

Portioning snacks and not sitting down with the bag is important so that 130 cal. snack turns into a 500 cal. “snack”. Ziplock makes a snack size bag that has the portions already marked on it, making portion control much easier.
