Programme exemplaire avec is how the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) recently recognized Midlothian High’s French elective program.

The school’s program was named an AATF Exemplary Program with Honors, a prestigious award recognizing the outstanding quality of the French program. Midlothian High is only one of 11 schools and universities in the nation to receive this award this year.

“The teaching of a world language is more than just language acquisition skills; there is a social and cultural component that exposes students to global learning opportunities,” said Dr. Javaid Siddiqi, the School Board chair who represents Midlothian High as the Midlothian District representative. “Midlothian’s French program makes use of innovative and creative teaching techniques and offers various cultural activities, in and outside of the classroom. This impressive recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff, both past and present, to build a strong, nationally recognized program that others can model.”

Midlothian High students, staff and community members celebrated the program’s exemplary honor with a special plaque presentation.

The American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) was founded in 1927 and is the largest national association of French teachers in the world with nearly 10,000 members.
