CCPS high school students to participate in first-ever Rule of Law Day

Law Robious CorridorTen students from each high school in Chesterfield County and the city of Colonial Heights will participate in the first-ever Rule of Law Day. The program is designed to broaden a student’s understanding of the rule of law. Members of the community, law enforcement and leaders from each branch of state government will navigate students through discussions and activities focused on rule of law principles and the operation of state government.

Students will hear from special guest speakers and participate in a mock courtroom presentation led by Virginia Supreme Court Justice Cleo Powell. Additionally, students will participate in discussions and round table exercises with attorneys, judges and law enforcement officials.

Speakers include the honorable Vanessa L. Jones and J. David Rigler Jr. with the Chesterfield/Colonial Heights Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, Chesterfield County Sheriff Karl S. Leonard, Board of Supervisor Leslie Haley, Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Erin Barr and Virginia Sen. Amanda Chase.
